The History of Chıldınü Oxford
The County of Oxford, as the Consolidated Municipal Service Manager (CMSM), is responsible for planning, managing, and allocating funding to Special Needs Resourcing (SNR) supports and services. In 2018, the County of Oxford adopted the following definition of special needs from the Ontario Municipal Social Service Association (OMSSA) and reads:
“Children, who due to emotional, familial, physical, behavioral, developmental, cognitive, communicative or emotional factors, are at risk of not maximizing their potential. Special needs encompasses children who require support and assistance with daily living, whether formally diagnosed or not, and whether a diagnosis is short or long term in nature.”
Special Needs Resourcing services in Oxford County from 1998 – 2018 were provided through A Child First, an interagency agreement between Good Beginnings Day Nursery Woodstock and Community Living Tillsonburg. In 2017 The County of Oxford underwent a review of the Special Needs Resourcing Services in Oxford County. The decision was made to move to a one agency operator model. Effective October 1, 2018, Good Beginnings became Oxford County’s service provider for Special Needs Resourcing, named Chıldınü Oxford.
