Engagement (The Why)
I labeled the buckets for lunch dishes in an effort to support independence.  As cups and utensils get washed first, and dishes afterwards, this helps them with separating/sorting, and gives them the ability to do so without directions.

Representation (The What) 
There are pictures to represent what goes in each bucket.

Expression (The How)

The children see the pictures and are able to separate their dishes.  The older children also tend to stand by to show the younger children how this system works and ensure they follow the labels correctly.
