Getting Dressed for Outdoors

Engagement (The Why)
To help the children with independence, self help skills and how to focus their attention on the task at hand.

Representation (The What)
We have big cards with each step on how to get ready for outside that are stationary on the cupboards and door close to where the children get dressed. We also have individual cards the children have physically in hand with them so it can be right there with them and can look at it when they complete each step.

Expression (The How)

Children learn in different ways, a lot of our children are visual learners. We have the individual cards for the children to be able to physically have with them while getting their outside stuff on. When they complete each step, they look at their card and go to the next step. This helps the children focus on what their task is in the moment and can reflect when each task is completed.
